1. How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information

 

Personal information refers to various information recorded electronically or otherwise that can identify your identity alone or in combination with other information or reflect your activities. During your use of KDTV products and services, we collect only the necessary information under the principles of legality, legitimacy, and necessity.

 

When you use KDTV products and/or services and software, we need/may need to collect and use your personal information in the following situations:

1. To provide KDTV products and/or services and software's essential business functions, you must authorize us to collect and use necessary information. If you refuse to provide the relevant information, you will not be able to use KDTV products and/or services and software normally;

2. To provide extended business functions of KDTV products and/or services and software, you can choose to authorize us to collect and use information. If you refuse to provide it, you will not be able to use the related extended business functions or achieve the intended functional effect, but it will not affect your normal use of the basic business functions of KDTV products and/or services and software.

 

We will collect and use your personal information you provide voluntarily, generated during your use of KDTV products and/or services and software, and obtained from third parties, for the following purposes under this policy. Please note that if you provide others' personal information, you must ensure you have obtained their authorization.

 

1.1 Personal Information We Collect and Use Directly

 

1.1.1 KDTV Business Functions

 

KDTV's business functions include basic business functions and extended business functions:

 

1. Basic business functions of KDTV include but are not limited to video search, video browsing, video playback, text browsing, audio playback, and video recommendations;

2. Extended business functions include commenting, sharing, following shows, bookmarking, and viewing history.

 

1.1.2. Personal Information Required for Various KDTV Functions

 

(1) Ensuring the Normal Operation of KDTV and Services

 

When you use KDTV and related services, to ensure the normal operation of the products and services, we will collect your device brand, device type, hardware model, device ID, operating system version, device sensor information, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI), network hardware address (MAC), IP address, software version, network access method and type, operation logs, service failure information, language used, anonymous device identifier (OAID), serial number, CPU information, application list (software installation list), screen parameters, IDFA and IDFV. To collect this basic personal device information, we will request permission to access your device information. We collect this information to provide core video display and playback services. If you refuse to provide these permissions, you may not be able to use our products and services.

 

(2) Registering and Logging into KDTV and Related Services

 

1) Information Collected Through KDTV Account Registration

 

When you register a KDTV account, you must provide at least an email address, which we use to send a verification code to verify your identity. You can also provide a nickname to enrich your account information. We will collect your network hardware address (MAC) and unique device identifier (such as IMEI) to identify you as a KDTV user. We collect this information to help you complete KDTV account registration and protect your account security. If you refuse to provide your phone number, you may not successfully register a KDTV account and use related features such as commenting, but you can continue using KDTV's core functions after exiting the registration page.

 

2) Third-Party Account Login

 

You can log into KDTV using third-party accounts (e.g., Google). To achieve this, we may need to obtain and collect your third-party account information (nickname, avatar, etc.) from the third party after you agree to this privacy policy, linking your third-party account with your KDTV account for direct login and use of our products and services. The third party's privacy policy will apply to their processing of your personal information. We collect this information to provide account login services and protect your account security, preventing security risks. If you refuse to authorize this information, you cannot use third-party platform accounts to log into our platform but can still use other products and services normally.

 

3) Participating in Operational Activities

 

KDTV occasionally launches operational activities. If you participate, we will collect your identity information, contact information, and transaction account information through the operational activity interface to contact you and issue operational rewards. If you do not participate in these activities, you do not need to provide this information.

 

You acknowledge and agree that we may send various notifications to one or more of your contact methods (e.g., email, phone number, contact address) during operations for user notifications, identity verification, and security verification. We may also use the phone number and email collected to provide you with information about films and shows you may be interested in. If you do not wish to receive this information, you can unsubscribe via the methods provided in the messages or directly contact us to unsubscribe.

 

1.1.3 Personal Information and Permissions Involved in Using KDTV Business Functions

 

1) Video and Image Caching Function

 

When you use the video caching and image caching functions, we may request storage permissions for your device. Refusal to provide this will only prevent you from using this feature and will not affect your normal use of other KDTV features. You can enable/disable storage permissions through your device's system settings at any time.

 

2) User Interaction Function

 

When you follow other users and interact with comments, replies, or share content, we collect the accounts you follow to display their content to you. We collect your device information and log information in this process.

Your avatar and nickname will be publicly visible when using the comment service.

 

3) Recording Function

 

We collect your video and audio playback records when you use KDTV services, enabling you to view your history. We also collect information on videos, channels added in your favorites, follow lists, downloads, and subscripxions for easy access and playback. These records are stored locally on your device, and you can delete them at any time.

 

4) Search Function

 

When using KDTV's search services, we collect search keywords, browsing records, and time, along with interaction counts. Some of this information may be temporarily stored locally to show search results and history, improving our products and services.

 

5) User Feedback Function

 

For feedback issues during KDTV usage, we may need your phone number or email for contact. You can refuse to provide this information, but it may hinder our ability to accurately diagnose and resolve issues. Provided contact details are used solely for customer support and will not be disclosed to third parties without your explicit consent or legal requirements.

 

6) Local Video Function

 

When using the "My Downloads - Local" feature on Android, after granting storage permission, we scan your device's video files to display them for quick access and management. These files and attributes are not uploaded to our servers.

 

7) Displaying and Pushing Personalized Content

 

KDTV offers personalized recommendation services (e.g., "Recommendations"). For this function, we may use behavior information (play records, duration, search, browsing, favorites, dates and times), interaction information (comments, replies, likes, shares, follows), device information (model, IP address, network behavior). These are processed to create user profiles for better content recommendations, such as movies or TV shows.

 

We ensure data used for these recommendations is de-identified, corresponding only to specific codes unrelated to your real identity.

 

8) Notifications

 

We may send notifications to your device for user messages, identity verification, security verification, or product updates and promotions. To enable this function, we need device information (e.g., MAC address, unique identifier, IP address, model, name, identifiers, browser settings, language, OS, app versions, network access).

 

 

9) Copy Function

 

Using KDTV’s copy function places information into your device's clipboard for sharing or other uses. This information replaces existing clipboard content and is not uploaded to KDTV servers.

 

10) Paste Function

 

Using KDTV’s paste function reads clipboard content for sharing, search, or comments. This information is stored locally and not uploaded to KDTV servers.

 

11) Shake Function

 

Using KDTV’s "Shake" feature, we access device sensors to detect movement. These sensor data do not include personal location information and cannot identify specific individuals.

 

12) VR Video Function

 

When playing VR videos, we access the device’s magnetic sensors to detect angles and directions for VR effects. These sensor data do not include personal location information and cannot identify specific individuals.

 

13) Storage Function

 

When you save videos, screenshots, or other media to your local device within KDTV, or when you access and browse videos stored on your local device, KDTV may access the data stored on your device's SD card. This access is solely for the purpose of enabling offline video playback. KDTV does not upload any data retrieved from your SD card to KDTV's servers.

 

14) Auto-Start and Associated Start

 

To ensure that the application can receive broadcast information from the client while it is closed or running in the background, KDTV requires the ability to auto-start. The application may be awakened and auto-started or associated-started by broadcasts sent by the system at certain intervals. This behavior is necessary to implement the application's functionalities and services.

 

1.1.4 Access to System Permissions by Various Business Functions 

 

In order to provide our services and ensure the proper functioning of product features, we may request the following permissions from your device's system. Before any permissions are requested, we will seek your consent, and you will have the opxion to either allow or deny the permission request. Upon your authorization, we will enable the necessary permissions. You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Please note that revoking permissions may prevent the use of certain features but will not affect your ability to use other features.

1.2 Providing Security Assurance

 

To enhance the security of the services provided by us and our affiliates, partners, and to protect your or other users' or the public’s personal and property safety from harm, prevent phishing websites, fraud, network vulnerabilities, computer viruses, network attacks, and network intrusions, and to better identify violations of laws, regulations, or KDTV-related agreements, we will collect necessary information to achieve security assurance functions. We may use or integrate your account information, transaction information (if any), device information, service log information, and information obtained from our affiliates or partners with your authorization or as permitted by law, to comprehensively assess transaction risks of your account, conduct identity verification, detect and prevent security incidents, and take necessary recording, auditing, analysis, and disposal measures as required by law.

 

1.2.1 Device Information Collection: To ensure the secure operation of the software and services, we will collect your device information, such as hardware model, device ID, operating system version number, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), Media Access Control (MAC) address, IP address, software version number, network access method and type, operation logs, sensor information, service fault information, language used, International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI), screen size, Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and Identifier for Vendors (IDFV), as well as personal sensitive information like transaction information.

To ensure the safety of your device's operating environment and to provide our products and/or services, preventing malicious programs and cheating, we will obtain the necessary application/software list information installed or running on your device after you agree to this Privacy Policy.

 

1.2.2 Usage Information: We may use your account information, transaction information, device information, service log information, and information authorized or legally shared by our affiliates and partners to assess account security, conduct identity verification, detect and prevent security incidents.

 

Please note that if we intend to use your information for purposes not covered by this Privacy Policy, we will seek your consent in advance.

 

1.3  Excepxions to Prior Authorization and Consent 

 

Please be aware that in the following circumstances, we may collect and use your personal information without obtaining your prior authorization and consent:

 

(1) When it is directly related to national security or defense security;

 

(2) When it is directly related to public safety, public health, or significant public interests;

 

(3) When it is directly related to criminal investigations, prosecutions, trials, or the execution of judgments;

2. Use of Cookies and Similar Technologies

 

To ensure the normal operation of our services, we store small data files called Cookies on your computer or mobile device. Cookies usually contain identifiers, site names, and some numbers and characters. The primary function of Cookies is to facilitate your use of our products and services, help us count unique visitors, simplify steps like registration and login, and provide you with personalized service content and content you may be more interested in, protecting your information and account security, and improving our products and services.

 

When you use KDTV's products and services, Cookies will be sent to your device. When you interact with services provided to partners (such as advertising and/or promotional services, and KDTV services that may appear on other websites), we allow Cookies (or other anonymous identifiers) to be sent to our company's servers. We will not use Cookies for purposes other than those stated in this Privacy Policy. You can manage or delete Cookies based on your preferences. You can clear all Cookies stored on your device.

 

3. Sharing, Transferring, and Disclosing Your Personal Information

3.1.1 Situations Where We May Share Personal Information With Your Authorized Consent

 

You understand and agree that, for the smooth operation of necessary and reasonable business activities, fulfilling your requests, meeting our obligations under relevant user agreements or this Privacy Policy, exercising our rights, or complying with legal requirements, we may need to share some of your information with certain business partners.

 

We or our third-party partners may collect your information via cookies or similar technologies, including device information, browsing history, and click data, such as International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), Media Access Control (MAC) address, International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI), device ID, IP address, software version, network access methods and types, device model, and the language currently used by your system. This information may be stored as log data to remember your identity, analyze your usage of our services, and opximize advertising placement. You can manage or refuse cookies or similar technologies through your browser settings. We commit to sharing only the necessary personal information, and if we need to share your sensitive personal information or change the purpose or method of processing your personal information, we will seek your authorization and consent again. Our business partners include:

 

(1) Service Providers Supporting Our Product Functions: These include payment institutions, third-party delivery companies, and other service providers. We share information with these providers to ensure the proper functionality of our products, allowing you to use them effectively.

 

(2) Data Service Providers: To maintain or improve our products/services and provide you with better content, we may share relevant information with designated partners who provide services such as network advertising monitoring, data statistics, and data analysis. The information shared may include IMEI, MAC address, device type, software version, network access methods and types, video playback records, advertising display records, and other related data. These companies are required to comply with our data privacy and security requirements. Without your consent, we will not share personally identifiable information with them.

 

(3) Third-Party Software Development Kit (SDK) Providers: Our products may include third-party SDKs or similar applications. If you use services provided by third parties on our platform, you agree to their direct collection and processing of your information, such as through embedded code, plugins, or occasional location data access. This information is used by third parties to provide technical infrastructure, analyze service usage, or offer user services. For example, if you use a Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, or VIVO phone, these manufacturers' Push tools may need to read your IMEI, MAC address, and other device information to push promotional activities or video content. Similarly, if you use Alipay for payments, Alipay will need to read your device information to complete transactions in a secure environment. These third-party providers operate under their own privacy policies, not this one. We will review these third-party providers' credentials and strive to ensure their compliance and security. However, please understand that if these providers do not proactively inform us or are not detected by us, their access to your device permissions or information might not be listed here. To safeguard your information, we strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services you use. If you discover any risks with these SDKs or applications, we advise you to stop using them immediately and contact us.

 

(4) Partners for Information Promotion and Advertising: You authorize us to share non-identifiable information, such as anonymized or aggregated data, with partners who entrust us with information promotion and advertising. This data may include device information such as MAC address, IMEI, IMSI, device ID, IP address, software version, system version, current system language, screen parameters, and network access methods and types, to help them deliver targeted ads or improve ad effectiveness without identifying you personally. We will not share any personally identifiable information without your consent. For clarity, please note that some ads may be personalized based on your user habits and preferences within the partner's application/software. We do not and will not collect your behavior or personal information from other applications without your authorization or legal requirement.

 

(5) Partners Providing Joint Services: If we and a partner jointly offer a service, we may, with your authorization, share the relevant information (as specified in your consent) with that partner to fulfill your service needs.

 

Additional situations where we may share your information include:

1) Sharing anonymized information that cannot be used to re-identify the data subject;

2) Sharing information with third parties to protect you, our other users, employees, KDTV, or the public from harm (e.g., fraud or credit risks);

3) When sharing your personal information is essential for achieving our core functions, providing the services you need, or resolving disputes between you and others;

4) Sharing information as required under agreements you have with us (e.g., online agreements, platform rules) or other legal documents;

5) Sharing based on agreements you have with other third parties;

3.1.2 Careful Evaluation and Accountability for Third Parties with Whom Personal Information is Shared

 

For third parties with whom we share personal information, we will conduct an assessment of their data security capabilities and environment and enter into strict confidentiality agreements with them. We will also require these third parties to handle personal information using confidentiality and security measures that are no less stringent than those required by this Privacy Policy.

 

If a third party needs to use personal information beyond the scope of the previously authorized purposes due to business requirements, they will need to seek your consent again.

 

3.1.3 Information You Voluntarily Share with Others

 

You may use KDTV's sharing features to share content you browse, search, or publish with specific or non-specific social friends. Please note that when you use third-party services or sharing features, the third party's processing of personal information will be governed by the privacy policies of the third-party service provider or social platform. Before sharing, we recommend that you carefully consider the recipient's reputation and review the privacy policies of the social networks or third-party service providers you use to understand how they handle your information, enabling you to make informed decisions. However, any information leakage or misuse resulting from your sharing actions is not related to us, and you will be responsible for any legal liabilities arising from such actions.

 

3.2 Transfer

 

We will not transfer your personal information to any company, organization, or individual excepx in the following cases:

- With your explicit authorization or consent.

- To meet legal regulations, legal procedures, mandatory government requirements, or judicial rulings.

- In case of mergers, divisions, liquidation, acquisitions, or sales of assets or business, your personal information may be transferred as part of such transactions. We will ensure the confidentiality of such information during the transfer and ensure the successor continues to be bound by this Privacy Policy, otherwise, we will require the successor to re-obtain your authorization consent.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Personal Information

 

4.1 Retention Period

 

We will retain your personal information as long as you are using KDTV products and services. Upon account cancellation or your proactive deletion of such information, we will cease using your personal information for commercial purposes and will delete or anonymize your personal information unless otherwise required by law.

 

4.2 Storage Location

 

KDTV currently operates a data center in Singapore. You understand and agree that under the terms and conditions of this policy, we may transfer and store your personal information in the aforementioned data center, adhering to applicable laws. Although the data protection standards of this data center may differ from those of your jurisdiction, we strive to protect your personal information according to stricter standards to minimize the risk of data leakage.

 

As described in this policy, we may share your personal information with third parties, some of whom may be located outside of Singapore. We will only transfer and process your personal information after fulfilling the requirements for cross-border transfers under applicable laws and regulations.

 

4.3 Security Measures

 

(1) Industry Standards and Protocols: We collect, use, store, and transmit user information in accordance with industry-standard security protocols and norms, informing you of the purposes and scope of data usage through user agreements and privacy policies.

 

(2) Emphasis on Security: We prioritize the security of your personal information by establishing a dedicated team responsible for developing and applying various security technologies and procedures. We implement appropriate security measures and technical means, compliant with industry standards, to store and protect your personal information, preventing unauthorized access, disclosure, usage, modification, damage, loss, or leakage. We take all feasible measures to ensure the security of your personal information, using encrypxion technologies to ensure data confidentiality and trusted security mechanisms to prevent malicious attacks.

 

(3) Internal Security Management: We have established a comprehensive information security management system and internal incident response mechanism, conducting security background checks on security management personnel and key security roles. We train employees on data security awareness and competencies, enhancing their understanding of the importance of protecting personal information. Employees processing personal information undergo identity verification and access control, signing confidentiality agreements that define job responsibilities and behavioral norms to ensure only authorized personnel can access personal information. Violations by employees will be dealt with strictly according to internal regulations and relevant laws.

 

(4) Internet Security Awareness: We remind you that the internet is not an entirely secure environment. When interacting with others through social software, ensure that your information transmission is fully encrypxed. We recommend not sending personal information in this manner to avoid leakage. Use complex passwords to help secure your account and personal information.

 

(5) Mitigating Limitations: Despite our efforts to implement effective measures and comply with legal standards, please understand that the rapid development of technology and various malicious attack methods in the internet industry mean that absolute security cannot be guaranteed. We will do our utmost to ensure the security of the personal information you provide. You acknowledge and understand that issues may arise from factors beyond our control in the systems and communication networks you use to access our products and services.

 

(6) Incident Response: According to our security management system, incidents involving personal information leakage, damage, or loss are classified as major security incidents. In such cases, we will initiate our highest-level emergency plan, forming a joint emergency response team comprising departments such as the Security Department, Government Relations Department, and Legal Department. We will inform you prompxly of the basic situation and possible impact of the security incident, the measures we have taken or will take, and report the handling of the user information security incident to the relevant regulatory authorities as required.

 

4.4 Security Incident Notification

 

(1) Emergency Plans: We will develop network security incident emergency plans to timely address security risks such as system vulnerabilities, computer viruses, network attacks, and intrusions. In the event of a network security incident, we will immediately activate the emergency plan, take appropriate remedial measures, and report to the relevant authorities as required.

 

(2) Drills and Precautions: Personal information leakage, damage, or loss is considered a significant security incident at the company level. We regularly organize working group members for security drills to prevent such incidents. If an incident occurs, we will activate the highest priority emergency plan, form an emergency response team, and minimize losses as quickly as possible.

 

(3) Notification and Measures: After a personal information security incident, we will prompxly inform you of the basic situation and potential impact, the measures we have taken or will take, suggestions for you to independently prevent and reduce risks, and remedial measures for you. We will notify you of the incident via in-app notifications, SMS, phone, or email. If individual notification is challenging, we will adopx reasonable and effective ways to publish announcements. We will also proactively report the handling of the personal information security incident to the regulatory authorities as required.

 

5. Protection of Minors' Personal Information

 

We implement additional safeguards to protect the personal information of minors using KDTV products and services.

 

If you are a minor under the age of 18 (under 19 in South Korea), please read this privacy policy carefully with your parent or guardian before using KDTV products and services and provide necessary information with their guidance.

 

We comply with relevant national laws and regulations to protect minors' personal information, collecting, using, sharing, or disclosing such information only with legal permission, explicit parental or guardian consent, or when necessary to protect minors. (2) Usage Information:

   - Access your viewing history, favorite records, drama tracking, offline download records, and subscripxions through "My - Viewing History", "My Favorites", "My Tracked Dramas", "My Downloads", and "Subscripxions".

   - Access your search history through "Search Box - Search History".

 

(3) Other Information: If you encounter operational issues or need access to other information not mentioned above, contact us as provided at the end of this document. We will verify your identity and provide the information within a reasonable period unless otherwise required by law or policy.

To change the scope of authorization (e.g., storage, phone, location), you can modify the permissions granted to KDTV through "Settings - Applications - Application Management - KDTV - Permissions". Specific functions and services require your information to operate. Withdrawing consent will prevent us from providing the corresponding services and processing your personal information, but it will not affect prior processing based on your consent.

 

6.3 Deleting Your Personal Information

 

You can delete certain personal information via settings provided in features such as viewing history, favorites, drama tracking, offline downloads, search, subscripxions, and comments. For example, delete "Viewing History" through "My - Viewing History". Once deleted, this information cannot be restored.

(1) If we violate laws, regulations, or agreements by collecting, using, sharing, or transferring your personal information;

(2) If we violate laws or agreements by publicly disclosing your personal information, you can request immediate cessation and notification to relevant recipients for deletion.

 

6.4 Account Deletion

 

You can delete your KDTV account through "My - Settings - Account Management - Account Deletion". Understand that account deletion will prevent you from using KDTV products and services requiring login. Please read and understand the "Account Deletion Agreement" before proceeding.

 

6.5 Requesting a Copy of Your Data

 

If you need a copy of your personal data, contact us through the provided means. After verifying your identity, we will provide your basic personal information within a reasonable time unless otherwise required by law or policy.

 

6.6 Responding to Your Requests

 

For security, you may need to provide a written request or prove your identity. We may verify your identity before processing your request.

 

We cannot respond to requests for correction, deletion, or account deletion under the following circumstances:

1. Related to national security or defense;

2. Related to public safety, public health, or significant public interests;

Appendix: Glossary

 

(1) Personal Information: Information recorded electronically or otherwise that can identify a specific natural person or reflect the activities of a specific natural person, either alone or in combination with other information. Personal information includes name, date of birth, ID number, personal biometric information, address, communication contact details, communication records and content, account passwords, financial information, credit information, travel trajectories, accommodation information, health physiological information, transaction information, etc.

 

(2) Sensitive Personal Information: Personal information that, if leaked, illegally provided, or misused, may endanger personal and property safety, and could easily lead to damage to personal reputation, physical and mental health, or discriminatory treatment. Sensitive personal information includes ID numbers, personal biometric information, bank account numbers, communication records and content, financial information, credit information, travel trajectories, accommodation information, health physiological information, transaction information, and personal information of minors under the age of 16 (inclusive).

 

(3) Device: A device that can be used to access KDTV products and/or services, such as desktop devices, tablets, or smartphones.

 

(4) Cookie: A mechanism that supports storing and retrieving information on the client side by the server side (or scripxs) by adding simple, persistent client states to extend web-based client/server applications. The server sends a state message along with the HTTP object returned to the client, which is saved by the client. The state message specifies the URL range for which the state is valid. Thereafter, the HTTP requests initiated by the client within that range will return the current value of the state message from the client to the server. This state message is called a Cookie.

 

(5) Anonymous Identifier: A marker generated by KDTV based on device parameters through machine algorithms to help KDTV recognize a user and provide better products and/or services and improve user experience.

 

(6) User Profile: The process of collecting, aggregating, and analyzing personal information to analyze or predict the characteristics of a specific natural person, such as their profession, economy, health, education, personal preferences, credit, behavior, etc., to form a model of their personal characteristics. Direct use of personal information of a specific natural person to form that person's characteristic model is called a direct user profile. Using information from outside a specific natural person, such as data from their group, to form that person's characteristic model is called an indirect user profile.

 

(7) Anonymization: The process of technically processing personal information so that the information subject cannot be identified and the processed information cannot be restored. Information obtained after anonymization of personal information is not considered personal information.

 

(8) Common Device Information: Information describing the basic situation of a commonly used device, including hardware serial number, hardware model, device MAC address, operating system type, software list, unique device identifiers (such as IMEI/android ID/IDFA/OPENUDID/GUID, SIM card IMSI information, etc.).

 

(9) Device Information: Includes device attribute information, device location information, device connection information, and device status information.

   - Device Attribute Information: Your hardware model, operating system version, device configuration, unique device identifiers, android ID, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), network device hardware address (MAC), advertising identifier (IDFA), login IP address, device model, device name, device identifier.

   - Device Location Information: Location information obtained via GPS, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi signals.

   - Device Connection Information: Browser type, telecom operator, language used, operating system and application version, network access method, network quality data, mobile network information.

   - Device Status Information: Device sensor data, device application installation list, product version number.
